New NHS Digital Deputy Chief Executive takes up post

NHS Digital’s new Deputy Chief Executive, Pete Rose, has today joined the organisation. Pete will also take on the role of Chief Information Security Officer for the Health and Care System.

He will lead our Live Services, Cyber Security, Solutions Assurance and Infrastructure functions, with a mandate to build on the great capabilities already in place and make these truly world-class services. He will also lead on our sustainability agenda.

Pete brings nearly 30 years of experience in delivering mission-critical digital and technology services, programmes and business change primarily to the Defence, Security and Public Safety sectors. For the last four years he has been Director of Enterprise Services and Deputy Chief Digital, Data and Technology Officer at the Home Office.

Sarah Wilkinson, NHS Digital Chief Executive, said:

“I’m really excited that Pete is joining the organisation at such a critical time, both in terms of the intensity of our current work to support the system in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, and in terms of the new, even more ambitious, agenda for system digitisation which we hope to see in the post-Covid months.

“He brings to the role a wealth of experience and expertise having led on some transformational digital projects, and we are delighted to have him on board, albeit for now of course from behind a monitor at home like the rest of us.”
